Google for Non-Profits

Google for NonprofitsFollowing closely behind it’s launch of Google+ by invitation-only – Google announced Google for Non-Profits. The new branch of services being offered by Google are aimed at serving Non-Profit organizations and providing discounted services, and access to exclusive resources. The services are wide – and my first impression is that they are going to be quite useful – especially for small non-profits working with very small budgets.

Google Grants will provide Adword campaigns for free to select organizations.

YouTube’s Nonprofit program will give your organization a designated “nonprofit” channel that will allow for a call-to-action overlay on videos – that can prompt for donations through Google Checkout.

Google Apps for Nonprofit will allow for eligible organizations to use Google Apps (which includes email, business documents, company-wide calendars, and more) either for free, or for a significant discount – depending on the size of your organization.

Their Raise Awareness initiative offers many tools for nonprofits to spread awareness on their cause, and share data through Google Maps, Google Earth Outreach, and more.

There’s an excellent article and interview here from USA Today.
